Our Mission
The Talent Equity Alliance is a collective of talent leaders doing the work of continuous learning to better ourselves, our agencies and the culture of the industry so all talent can thrive equitably.
We are working to create new policies, practices and programs that will increase equity and belonging for all people in agencies (specifically advertising, pr, media & tech).
We are working independently from our companies and any industry partners.
So where are we starting?
with pay equity and talent pay advocacy… but why?
We know the answer to this question may be obvious, but is it? TEA has already identified that HR leaders and established organizational systems play a key role in perpetuating inequities that have held back historically marginalized people from achieving equal levels of financial systems and generational wealth.
As we looked at the Talent Equity Wheel with other talent and EDI leaders and with talent of color, the thing that rose to the top of the list of importance to address first was pay. We identified two areas that are critical to making an impact. Empowering agencies with best practices to achieve pay equity and empowering talent to advocate for their own pay parity.
The Agency Pay Parity Toolkit
Let’s start with the basics. We all know that pay equity sits at the foundation of any organizations’ equity potential. Conducting a pay analysis is a daunting task in itself given that the marketplace is full of new methodologies and ever-changing laws to navigate. To provide a strong head start, TEA has built a toolkit of best practices and resources for HR professionals working to prevent and fix inequity on a company level.
Salary Negotiations for a New Role
A guide for candidates on how to work with external and internal recruiters to negotiate compensation when interviewing for a new job with a new agency from start to finish. By sharing our secret sauce as recruiters, our goal is to give talent a full understanding of the process to ensure you know how to handle negotiations at any point in the process whether you’re working with an internal or external ad agency recruiter.
Raises and Promotions
Learn how to discuss your raise and promotion with your hiring manager and discipline leads. This is a guide for candidates to learn more about how agencies assess compensation when you’re an existing employee. We primarily take a deep dive into how to advocate for yourself to make sure your chances to move forward aren’t left to chance at all. Talking about money can be awkward, and we know that guessing, waiting and hoping can easily pull quite a bit of energy. Our goal is to help eliminate that.
